Puneri Paltan is a team representing the city of Pune Maharashtra in India. In the first two seasons of the pro kabaddi league, 2014 - 2015, Puneri Paltan participated as it was one of the founding members of the league. Insurekot sports Pvt. Ltd, a firm owned by billionaire Suresh Kotak and family, is the owner of Puneri Paltan. The non-government company was incorporated in 2001. Insurekot Sports Pvt. Ltd, ventured into Kabaddi when they purchased the Pune Franchise of the league in 2014.
Anup Kumar, a former Indian professional Kabaddi Player, is currently the coach of Puneri Paltan. He won Asian gold medals in 2010 & 2014, and was Captain of the Indian national Kabaddi team and one of the most successful raiders of pro Kabaddi league and international Kabaddi.
The Puneri Paltan Team Players are focused on winning the Pro Kabaddi League this season and going home with the trophy. Puneri Paltan appointed Surjeet Singh as their Team Captain and they have also unveiled the team's new jersey design. The Pune Kabaddi Team Captain was part of the Paltan squad in the third season of the league and he is now back to lead the Puneri Paltan players.
In a bid to improve their overall performance, the coach and management of the Pune Kabaddi team have made some strategic changes to the team’s formation from the previous year. Following the auction of players, five players were retained in the squad, while some new team players joined. This year’s pro kabaddi Pune team comprises skillful team members.
Though the team started its career with a low success rate, they have since learned their mistakes. In the January 2016 season, they made it to the playoffs and again in the 2017 season.
Through dedication from the management and commitment of the players themselves, the team has since become one to watch out for this year. With a points table that seems to improve across seasons, there is a lot to look forward to this season.
With the presence of skillful members this time, in the Pro Kabaddi team; the Puneri team is coached by Anup Kumar -with Sarjeet Singh as current captain-, and the Puneri Paltan team is set to win big this season.
